EDITOR: In response to the issue that a concerned citizen raised on Dec. 8 in her "Letter to the Editor" titled, Warning needed, may I offer a suggestion.

In 1995, the information and communication technology (ICT) community networking group of volunteers known as PetalumaNet was officially "incubated" and "hatched." On September 1, 2007, it will celebrate its 12^th Anniversary and enter its 13^th year of activity. It is growing up, and on its way to becoming a teen-ager. Oh my, what do we have in store for us, as the community that has both nurtured and benefited from its many faceted "growing up" years?

The deadline for citizens to apply for serving on the various boards, advisory committees and commissions that serve the City of Petaluma is next Thursday, June 21^st - AND there are vacancies on the T&T Advisory Committee. Here is an opportunity to guide the future of our cyberspace right here in Petaluma - Our Cyberplace.

Did you see the headline (above) on page B-7 of the San Francisco Chronicle, yesterday? It was also featured in today's Benton's Communications-Related Headlines (6-8-07).

These two words certainly apply to the theme of this blog topic - Our Cyberplace. As a decendant of an earlier Weblog called Our Cyberspace, which was launched in 2003 on PetalumaOnline, it is appropriate to reflect on how these two words might be applied to the changing world of journalism. (Remember Our Cyberplace #49?)

At last, a local area journalist (a real live professional, not one of us amateur, do-it-yourself wannabe journalists) has written about the rise of online content contributed by "citizen journalists" and the implications for the future of his craft.
